3 Quick Ways to Earn More Cash Back on Your Daily Spend

In this economy I like to make sure the money I work so hard for is being stretched as far as it can go.

And that means leveraging the tools already available to me to earn as much cash back on my money as possible.

Here are 3 super simple things I do to make sure my money is earning as much cash back as possible!

1️⃣ Use Rakuten

Rakuten is a cash-back plugin (I use it on Chrome) that scans the internet for any active deals or coupons, plus offers cash back on your everyday shopping.

For example, let’s say you’re browsing on Gap. If Gap is offering a coupon, Rakuten will notify you to apply it to your cart. Plus, if Gap is working with Rakuten, they will offer cash back on your purchase. Sometimes it could be 2% and other times it could be 15%!

If you’re already spending the money, you’re leaving money and savings on the table by not using Rakuten.

Sign up for Rakuten and get $30 cash back when you make your first purchase using the tool! (not sponsored - this is the affiliate code everyone gets. Another hack is to sign up and share your code with your friends!!)

2️⃣ Use a High-Yield Savings Account

A high-yield savings account is an online account where you earn a higher interest rate on your savings compared to a traditional account. There’s really no reason to not use one (so long as it is FDIC insured).

Right now, HYSA are earning about 3.5% - that is money you earn simply for putting your cash into the account. It is not an investment account and it’s not invested in the stock market. It is just a savings account.

It’s great for short-term goals (think travel) and also your emergency fund!

I recommend using either SoFi or Ally for your HYSA!

3️⃣ Use a Cash Back Credit Card

Cash back credit cards get totally overlooked in lieu of travel rewards cards. I actually am planning to swap one of my travel cards to a cash back card this summer (when it’s up for renewal) so that I can earn cash back on a few spending categories that are most aligned to me.

A cash back card is a great card to have in your wallet - there are so many to choose from. I recommend checking out The Points Guy for recommendations!
